How do I make PhonIQ my default phone and SMS app?
PhonIQ asks on first start. You can also go to Android Settings, Apps, Default apps, and choose PhonIQ for Phone app and SMS app. Without both, recents, SMS and Money will be incomplete.
Incoming calls still show my phone maker's screen
Check that PhonIQ is the default phone app, not only installed. Some phones stop the call service to save battery, so exempt PhonIQ from battery saving. When your phone is unlocked and another app is open, PhonIQ shows a heads-up banner by design.
I cannot restore a backup
Backups need the passphrase you chose when you made them. PhonIQ cannot reset it. After a restore the app closes and reopens on the restored data.
Call recording only has my side
Many Android 15 phones only allow the near end of a call to be recorded. Recordings stay on your phone, and you are responsible for consent under local law.
Money missed a transaction
Money reads SMS already on your phone. If a bank uses a new message format, the SMS still shows in Messages but may not become a Money entry. PhonIQ never logs into your bank.
Why do I see an ad?
PhonIQ is free and shows an ad row in some lists, never in conversations, calls, OTPs or bank threads. Ads are chosen by the screen, never from your SMS, calls or money. PhonIQ Pro removes ads.
Which phones does it work on?
Android phones on Android 15 or later.
